Pugapoo
Pugapoo
The Pugapoo is a hybrid dog that is people-friendly and fun-loving. It is a sweet and loving addition to your family as it is excellent with children. If you are looking for a small family pet, Pugapoo is the ideal choice for you.
Origin
The Pugapoo breed is the result of crossbreeding between a Pug and a Poodle. They were bred to develop a mixed breed dog to achieve a particular look, temperament, and working ability. The breed exhibits the combination of features from its parent breed; however, the date of the origin is unknown. Crossbreeds like Pugapoo became popular over the past twenty years when people looked out for dogs other than everyday Poodle or Pug.
Size
A Pugapoo has a shoulder height of 8-15 inches. Females weigh around 10-25 pounds, whereas a male Pugapoo weighs about 10-30 pounds. They have a triangular muzzle, small round eyes, and hanging ears. A Pugapoo has a sturdy body and muscular legs where the forelimbs are straight, and the hind limbs are angular. Each Pugapoo has a different look, and it ultimately depends on the dominant trait of the parent breed.
Coat
A Pugapoo may have smooth, straight, or curly hair. If it inherits the hair of Pug parents, it will have short and soft hair; on the other hand, it may inherit long, straight, and curly hair from a Poodle. They come in different coat colors like white, fawn, black, cream, and grey.
Temperament
The Pugapoo is loyal, affectionate, and loyal. These dogs are people-friendly, which means they love to spend time with people. Generally, a Pugapoo barks less, but they may be a barker if they inherit more Poodle’s traits. This breed of dog gets along well with children and other pets. It is a mix of two breeds, and it is difficult to say how its personality will turn out. Some may be calm, or some may be aggressive. Early socialization is essential to growing your pup into a well-mannered dog. It makes an excellent watchdog despite being a small/medium dog. They tend to develop separation anxiety and become destructive if left alone for a longer time.
Care
The Pugapoo is a reasonably active dog and does not have a lot of energy requirements. A short brisk walk or some playtime is enough to maintain physical growth and mental stimulation. At a young age, it needs one or one and a half-hour physical activity for proper growth and development of the body. Brushing the coat once or twice a week is enough to keep the skin clean and healthy. Bathe only when necessary, as frequent bath and excess water on the coat may harm the coat texture. Keep a check on the overall hygiene of your pet.
Health
The average lifespan of a Pugapoo is 12-14 years. Dog owners should check the early symptoms of the disease that are common in a Pugapoo. Hip Dysplasia, Eye Infection, Breathing problem, Thyroid, and Hormonal Disorder are minor concerns. The primary health issues in a Pugapoo include Patellar Luxation, Bloat, Addison’s disease, and Cushing Syndrome. Make sure to ask for health clearance when you bring your pup home.
