Poogle
Poogle
A small dog with a wavy Poodle coat and playful nature like a Beagle, yes, you guess it right, Google. It is an energetic and intelligent breed that is quite popular in the United States. Also known by Beagle Poo, Beapoo, and Beagle Doodle, the breed has gained popularity due to its charming look and even-temperament.
Origin
The Poogle is a result of crossbreeding between a Poodle and a Beagle. It is a mixed breed that has been in existence for many years now. The American Kennel Club does not recognize it as it is a mix of two pure breeds and not a new breed. It is believed that the Poogle was first bred in the United States, somewhere in the 1980s.
Size
The Poogle can vary in size depending on the dominance of parent breed sizes, but most of them are toy and miniature-sized dogs having a Poodle bloodline. A male Poogle has a 6-16 inches shoulder height and weighs around 11-25 pounds. A female Google has a shoulder height of 9-16 inches, and their weight ranges from 11-20 pounds.
Coat
The Poogle usually has a wavy or curly coat that is short/medium in length. It may inherit the hypoallergenic coat from Poodle. The breed comes in various colours, including black, brown, white, red, sable, silver, and grey. It is a low-maintenance dog with a low-shedding coat.
Temperament
The Poogle is a warm, friendly, and affectionate breed that loves to spend time with its family. They are great with children and enjoy the company of active children. They are alert and vocal, which makes them good watchdogs, but at the same time, the breed is affectionate and curious towards strangers. They get along well with other dogs, but they have a prey instinct towards small animals and cats. A Google is an intelligent, loyal, and obedient breed that makes them an excellent companion dog. They tend to become aggressive and destructive if left alone for a longer time. Early socialization and consistent training are essential to growing your pup into a well-mannered dog.
Care
The Poogle is an active dog, requiring a daily walk and some playtime to fulfil its energy requirements. They are fun-living and enjoy playing with other dogs and family members. They are eager to please their owners, which make them easy to train. They pick up new tricks and commands pretty well. Brushing twice a week is required to keep the coat clean and tangle-free. They have dropped ears that can catch germs and dust more often, so they must clean their ears twice a week. Keep a check on the overall hygiene of your pet.
Health
The Poogle has an average lifespan of 10-13 years. As it is a mix of two healthy breeds, it is likely to be a healthy pup. However, some health conditions are commonly seen health concerns in a Poogle, such as dental problems, ear infections, and obesity. Make sure to know the history of its parent breed and get the health clearance for your pet.
