Chow Chow

Chow Chow
Despite his fondness for his whole family, the Chow prefers to be independent and dignified. Even though he isn’t a big fan of cuddling young people as he grows up, he is typically alright with them. He’s a fantastic watch and guard dog, and he’ll keep an eye out for outsiders.
Origin:
The Chow Chow is one of the oldest canine breeds in China. For centuries, the chow chow has been traced back to the spitz-type dog or the chow chow derived from the spitz-type dog.
Since its origin, the chow chow has been an animal of various facets. These dogs have a long and varied history as sledge pullers, hunters, livestock guardians, and food. “chou” may mean “edible” in Chinese. Still, historians like to believe that “chow chow” refers to an Oriental curiosity, which is what the chow chow most assuredly is.
American Kennel Club breeders have ranked it among the top 10 most popular dogs in the United States for more than a century. The type of Chow chows did not survive well in China, where many chow chows were exterminated as part of the cultural revolution.
Size:
With straight legs, Chow Chows walk choppy and stiffly. The dog’s snout is vast and black, with enormous nostrils that spread wide. The little erect ears are triangular, as are the 44 teeth, which meet in a scissors bite. Chow Chows have a large chest and a long tail and are always kept close to the owner’s side. A mature Chow Chow stands between 18 and 22 inches tall and weighs 20 to 32 kg.
Coat:
Smooth and rough coats are two types of chow. With a thick and woolly coat, the dog has a built-in parka that’s distinctive. The shorter, denser variety is the smooth coat. Regardless of the colouration, both types have dark brown eyes and may be found in shades of red and cream or black and blue. With their panda-like smiles and physical appearance, it’s little wonder they’re frequently compared to cute bears. The breed has a blue tongue. The Chow Chow Club, Inc. (CCCI) says chow chow pups are born with pink tongues that become blue around 8–10 weeks.
Temperament:
The Chow Chow is reserved and dignified, almost lordly, in his demeanour. When it comes to interacting with people outside of his own family, he is dedicated and wary. He tends to be self-reliant and obstinate. Other dogs may find him reckless, but cats and other domestic pets have had no issues with his dominance. He may be severe and protective of his loved ones.
Care:
This gorgeous, loyal, and clever dog breed is a great companion. Chow chows may be aggressive towards same-sex dogs and have a predatory impulse towards cats and other small pets due to their hunting past. It’s ideal for bringing a chow chow into a multi-pet family as a puppy and socialising it, so it welcomes the other pets.
Health:
In addition to eyelid entropion, hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and hypothyroidism, the Chow Chow may suffer from eyelid entropion. A veterinarian may detect and treat these problems thanks to preventative health screening, appropriate breeding, and regular health care.
