Origin
The Boxmatian is a mixed breed that results from crossbreeding between a Boxer and a Dalmatian dog. Its exact origin is unclear, but it is said that it was originated somewhere in Europe. The breeders wanted to mix the two purebred dogs to create a strong and powerful dog like a boxer and sleep and agile like their Dalmatian parent. As it is a mixed breed, it is not recognized by the AKC (American Kennel Club) but several other hybrid clubs in America.
Size
The Boxmatian is a mixed breed, so they have few standard sizes according to the dominance of their parent breeds. It has a shoulder height of 19-25 inches and weighs around 50-90 pounds. It is a large-sized dog with a strong and muscular appearance.
Coat
Dalmatian dogs are known for their distinct spotted coat, but all boxmatian’s don’t need to pick the spotted trait. The breed has a short and straight coat that sheds moderately, and it can be seen in colours like black, white, or pied. The breed prefers to be in warm rather than cold climates because of the short coat.
Temperament
Boxmatian is one of the most energetic dogs you can ever see around. They are playful and loving dogs who love to play games and exercise. Don’t be surprised if they get engaged in something destructive as they get bored easily. They may suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for a longer time. If you are not an outdoor person or don’t have access to large areas, boxmatian is not the dog for you as they love to roam around and play in large areas. This breed is known for its goofy looks; at the same time, it is strong enough to protect its family. They are not friendly with strangers, but you may overcome this with proper training and early socialization.

Boxmatians are high energy dogs, and they require a lot of exercise throughout the day to keep their brain and body occupied. They require at least one hour of walking with some play sessions to keep them fit. The Boxmatian require daily brushing to keep the coat clean and healthy and overcome shedding. Keep checking their overall hygiene by cleaning their eyes and ears regularly. Trim their nails and brush their teeth daily to prevent bad breath and dental problems. Take your dog for regular health check-ups to detect the early signs and symptoms of diseases, if any.
