Beaglier
Beaglier
The Beaglier is a designer dog that is loyal, friendly, and energetic. It is a small/medium-sized dog that craves human attention and loves being around its family. They are calm, gentle, and playful, which makes them excellent companion dogs.
Origin
The Beaglier is a hybrid dog that is the result of crossbreeding between a Beagle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The breed was first developed in Australia in the 1990s to breed an easy-going, energetic dog with less hunt instinct and scent drive than a Beagle. It is a mix of the best qualities of both its parent breed. They have gained popularity with their looks and personality and can be found throughout North America and Europe.
Size
As the Beaglier is a mixed breed, it can come in different sizes depending upon the parent breed. A Beaglier has a shoulder height of 12-16 inches, and its weight ranges from 10-20 pounds. They may be small or large depending upon the dominance of the parent breed.
Coat
The Beaglier is a small/medium-sized dog that usually has a short and wavy coat that is soft. However, some have long coats resembling the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They come in a variety of colors like brown, black, white, and cream. Some may have a solid color coat, while others have a combination of these colors. A Beaglier has big, expressive eyes and a short, rounded muzzle.
Temperament
Beaglier is an affectionate, friendly, and loyal dog breed. They get along well with children and other pets and usually welcome strangers. They are pretty adaptable and adjust to life in the different home environments, from a big house with a yard to apartment living. They are highly social animals that develop separation anxiety if left alone for a longer time. If you are looking for a friendly, well-mannered dog with even-temperament, you can’t do better than a Beaglier. Early socialization and exposure to people and the environment are essential for your pup to grow into a well-mannered dog.
Care
Though a Beaglier is a small dog, it has high energy requirements. Plenty of exercises or a long walk twice a day with some playtime is required to fulfill the energy requirements of a Beaglier. If you notice that your pet is destructive and suffering from separation anxiety, spend more time with your pet playing an outdoor game such as a game of fetch and play or tug of war. Regular vet check-ups are required to detect any health concern at an early stage. Brushing their coat once or twice a week is enough to keep it clean and healthy. When it comes to a Beaglier, your main concern will be dental health. Brush their teeth daily to remove the tartar buildup and maintain the overall hygiene of your pet.
Health
The Beaglier has a lifespan of 10-13 years. It is prone to some health problems that its parent breeds also face, such as Hip Dysplasia, Hypothyroidism, Patellar Luxation, Glaucoma, ear infections, cherry eye, epilepsy, vision, dental problems, and hearing disorder. Make sure to get the health clearance when you plan to bring a Beaglier home.
