Dachsador is a labrador breed and is also known as the sausage dog. These dogs are best as pets as these dogs are fun-loving and are great as protective companions. These dogs are a mixed breed of Labrador Retriever and Dachshund parents. These are full of energy and are enough to keep a family and children engaged and entertained all day long.
Origin
While there is no clear evidence of where this breed originated, it is often believed that Dachsador was developed due to the designer dog trend that started a few decades ago. Research says these dogs originated in Germany in the 1400s and were intentionally bred as pet dogs for hunting prey such as wild boars and foxes. Later in the 1800s, they became more popular as companion dogs.
Size
The Dachsador are small in size, but their size varies as they originated from the mix of two different breeds. Their height ranges from 15-25 inches, and their weight varies between 30 to 40 pounds.
Coat
Daschador is a mix of Dachshund & Labrador Retriever dogs, but its coat is a mixture of both dogs. The Dachshund has short and shiny hair. Also, they have long and wavy hair. The Labrador Retriever has a coat of two layers with a short and thick bottom, and their top coat is waterproof and soft. So the Daschador has a coat having a mix of two. The Daschador has short but medium hair. Also, the hair is dense and wiry in certain areas. The coat of this breed of dog has a variety of colors. The color varies between black, red, brown, and yellow.
Temperament
In a word, the temperament of this breed of dog is considered ‘Sweet’. These dogs are generally amiable. Also, these dogs are very obedient and loyal and always try to please their owners. Although they are very active and compassionate, they are known to be very stubborn, and the owner has to be patient enough to handle them. The thing about this breed is that they are very friendly, even if they meet any stranger.
Care
Taking care of a Dachsador is a crucial point to discuss. Although these dogs are cheerful and active, they are not as rigid and robust as other big dogs. They are small and can easily get hurt, just like smaller babies. It is essential to take care of them with patience. They must hold gently from the bottom. Also, the owner must ensure that it doesn’t jump on a height as it may get hurt if they fall. Also, the owner must take them for a bath and also clean their nails. Dachsador prefers vegetables and ground bones. Also, they should be given a protein-rich diet to keep them healthy.
Health
Dachdador is a healthy dog and does not have any significant health problems. But they do have some minor health issues, and the owner must make sure that they arrange for treatments to give their favourite pet a healthy life. The minor health issues include Hip Dysplasia, Epilepsy, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, etc.
