Origin:
Early 2000s dog breeding records do not show any prior intentional breeding of the ‘Chusky’ dog breed, but it might have existed. A few mentions of North America purposely breeding the parent lines and refining them throughout the years.
Size:
Chuskies are small fur balls with a medium-built, and some may even have larger built depending on the original breeding line. They are averagely 18-23 inches in height and weigh around 40-65 lbs. A male Chusky is slightly bigger than a female.
The designer hybrids may also have different sizing, which depends on many factors and routines.
Coat:
The Chusky is known to be a heavy shedder. It has long and dense fur, which sheds excessively and requires regular brushing and grooming. They are not suited for places with higher temperatures because of their thick fur coating. They inherit color combinations such as brown, red, cream, and white, as these are the elements of the parental line.
The owner must be very meticulous about choosing favorable conditions for this specific breed as they thrive best in cold conditions. The shedding process is a lot worse in summer.
Temperament:
Chusky inherits the traits found in Chow and Husky of being loyal and very determined. Their stubborn character makes them protective and alert. They guard their territory well and have strong instincts. They can become fit for a family and socialize with proper training and guidance. These dogs are very lovable and playful, and open spaces let them use the best of their attributes.
They can be destructive if not paid attention to, so proper training and behavioral lessons are essential.
Care:
Keeping your dog groomed and vaccinated is a big step for every dog owner, and the same goes for Chusky. They are very energetic and active, so they adore their playtime.
Regular veteran visits are necessary to check health and fitness, like dogs. Grooming and cleaning are very much needed for this breed, and taking them on daily walks and play sessions is required. Weight gain is another factor with dogs, so one should be careful with overfeeding them. The respective owners should carefully check the minor details of their pet to avoid future concerns.
Health:
Chuskies are sometimes born with a common condition where some teeth are missing. It may affect their diet and intake at the beginning phase, but the teeth will grow with time, making it easier to feed them.

• Cataracts
• Hip dysplasia
