Origin
The Bullmatian results from the crossbreeding of purebred Bulldog and Dalmatian. It is a pretty new mixed breed that originates from Afghanistan. It may have existed naturally over the years, and the breeding intentionally started 15-20 years ago. The breeders wanted to combine the best personality traits of Bulldog and Dalmatian, creating a friendly companion dog.
Size
As the Bullmatian is a mixed breed, the size may vary depending upon the dominant trait of the parent breed. It has a shoulder height of 11-24 inches, and its average weight ranges from 40-65 pounds. It can be smaller or larger than their average standard size.
Coat
As you can imagine, the breed with a Dalmatian parent, the Bullmatian, has a spotted coat. Though, unlike Dalmatians, the spots are not always black. You can also find a Bullmatian with a brown, red, fawn, and brindle spotted coat, and it has a short and straight coat that is relatively easy to maintain.
Temperament
Bullmatian is a beautiful blend of both its parent breeds. It inherits some of the best personality traits from its parent breeds. Bullmatians are intelligent and loyal dogs who are affectionate and loving with their owners. It is a social dog with an active streak. Care
A Bullmatian needs daily exercise and plays sessions to stay physically fit and mentally stimulated. An enclosed backyard is a great way to let your dog play and get its energy out. Bullmatian is a low-maintenance breed when it comes to grooming. Brushing their coat twice a week will probably do to keep their coat clean and healthy. Keep a check on their overall hygiene by cleaning eyes and ears, trimming nails, and taking care of dental health. They prefer a moderate climate and do not do well in extreme weather conditions.
Health
The average lifespan of a Bullmatian is 8-12 years. They are prone to diseases their parent breeds also face, such as Entropion, Eye infections, Deafness, Patellar Luxation, and Dermatitis. Do get the health clearance before you get the breed home.
